Working as a gamekeeper can show you challenges and harsh environments
that you would never have to deal with in a normal life, everything is pushed to its limits.

From machinery to clothing nothing gets an easy ride, that’s why I have been very impressed with the clothing from the Muflon and Muflon Light collection from Deerhunter, over the past weeks I have managed to test them on a wide variety of outdoor and hunting activities from pest control to general land management.

The Jacket and Gloves from the Muflon Light fitted seamlessly into whatever task I undertook while wearing them, the Deer-Tex® Membrane works brilliantly not only to make the clothing waterproof, windproof and breathable, but it also amazed me with how quiet the outfit is while out stalking through thick cover where any loud movement can spook game.

The first striking point of the jacket for me was the large pockets of the Jacket allows easy access and storage for anything you may need on a hunt or while working out in the countryside. One brilliant feature that really surprised me was the microfiber cloth retained on a rubberised band attached inside the breast pocket; it’s such a useful addition to a jacket that would fit well into the rifle shooting world. You can seriously tell that the product is designed by hunters for hunters.

One other key point of excellence in the jacket is the hood; thankfully this jacket isn’t another plain jacket with a flimsy hood. Deerhunter have once again pulled out all the stops to create a sturdy yet soft and flexible hood that won’t flutter in your face in strong winds, letting you keep focused on the task in hand whether that’s scouting through binoculars or trying to stay composed to take the shot.

First impressions of the Deerhunter Muflon Pants were one of warmth and dexterity, to which I was not disappointed. The wealth of pockets alongside the thick yet light thermal materials coated in the same Deer-Tex® Membrane as the Muflon Light gear come together to create a brilliant piece of clothing that definitely lives up to the Deerhunter name.

The attached brace straps create another level of stability alongside the retaining ankle straps that help the waterproof pants clamp tightly around any boots or outdoor footwear helping to keep water out.

My overall view on the Deerhunter kit I tested was that it fit my needs magnificently, although in future I believe certain items would suit to different applications, the tried and tested Deerhunter quality shines through with the extremely affordable price tag that sets them apart from their competitors.
