At Deerhunter, functionality is the most important parameter for a successful hunt! Our hunting apparel is designed to be used for all types of hunting, in different types of vegetation and in varying climatic conditions. Therefore we make a point of choosing the right materials for the individual products. We work with professional hunters engaging in different types of hunting all over the world. In this way, we acquire the broad knowledge which is necessary to develop the right choice of hunting wear for the market.
We use high-tech membranes offering a high level of water penetration resistance, wind resistance and breathability - and strong protection against wear that can withstand the most demanding hunting situations. We develop camouflage patterns based on our own hunting experiences, the requirements of hunters and demand worldwide. We take into account different types of vegetation, light, climate and types of hunting, and our garments are tested in various environments – an important factor in our product development.
We believe that sound knowledge coupled with testing by professionals are the key criteria for selecting the right materials for every hunting situation and environment. We develop hunting apparel for serious hunters who expect quality for their money!

Padding
At Deerhunter, we devote a lot of time to developing functional, high-quality products. This is so that we hunters can focus on what is important – enjoying the great outdoors and hunting.
If you have ever been blind hunting on a cold winter’s morning, then you know how important it is to have warm clothes. Once you start feeling cold, it can feel like a very long wait indeed.
At Deerhunter, we therefore incorporate padding in our hunting apparel which provides effective insulation. The amount of padding depends on how cold it is going to be, and thus how much insulation the apparel needs to provide. Padding comes in various qualities, each with their respective advantages. What is important is that the properties of the garment match what it is going to be used for – and whether you are going to be active or not.
DEER-TEX® Temp
A three-layer padding made from fibres that have been melted together under a low heat. This unique structure produces an extraordinary softness. Deer-Tex® Temp collects body heat, while the surface material ensures that the heat is encapsulated in the layers and insulates the body..
3M™ Thinsulate™ Original Insulation
3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation is soft, breathable and able to maintain extra warmth even under damp conditions.
3M™ Thinsulate™ Featherless Insulation
A kinder alternative to feathers, 3M™ Thinsulate™ Featherless Insulation is an innovative material to replace natural down. A loose-fill insulation designed by scientists that mimics down when dry and is warmer than down when wet. 3M™ Thinsulate™ Featherless Insulation is an ideal synthetic alternative to down in any application.
3M™ Thinsulate™ Water Resistant Insulation
3M™ Thinsulate™ Platinum Insulation features an excellent blend of synthetic hydrophobic fibers, which results in an exceptional warm and lightweight insulation with a better water resistance.
3M™ Thinsulate™ Stretch Insulation
3M™ Thinsulate™ Platinum Flex is a unique elastomeric insulation that performs under extreme conditions. It stretches up to 40% in all direction and pulls right back again without wrinkling your garments.
Surface treatments
We’ve all tried it! Spring or late summer, when it’s quite warm. Days which are dry, and where hunting apparel with a membrane is not your first choice.
Perhaps you’re heading off to dog training, or to check the game camera in the woods. Or perhaps you need to make preparations at your hunting cabin before the next meet. These are different situations, but common to them all is that it is probably sensible to choose hunting apparel which has been surface-treated.
A typical surface treatment is an impregnated coating which makes the product water and dirt-resistant. Deerhunter chooses the surface treatment that best matches the conditions under which the hunting apparel is likely to be used.
Water Repellent
Products impregnated with water repellent treatment are water- and dirt-resistant. Stains are easy to remove. Extremely heat-resistant and has a very smooth surface.
Leather Treatment
Deerhunter’s leather products are manufactured from soft and wear-resisting high-quality buffalo leather. The leather is dyed without the use of harmful dyes (azo-free).
We recommend that you use beeswax to maintain your leather products, or a universal waterproofing spray to protect the product from water and dirt. Leather is a natural material, and you will extend its useful life by caring for it regularly.
Teflon Treatment
Products impregnated with Teflon are water- and dirt-resistant. Stains are easy to remove. Teflon is extremely heat-resistant and has a very smooth surface.
Quick Dry
Products treated with quick dry are breathable, and dry faster than other garments. Body moisture is absorbed, and wicked away from the skin so that it evaporates. Consequently, it’s easier for you to maintain a stable body temperature and stay dry when hunting.
Materials
In consultation with hunters and through extensive testing, Deerhunter’s design team assesses which combination of materials is best for a particular product. Deerhunter uses materials which are durable and flexible so as not to restrict your freedom of movement.
When stalking, the hunter needs silent stretchable materials – in order to be able to easily, effortlessly and silently move across the terrain. Dog handlers and drivers often need a hunting outfit with a very breathable membrane, as well as extra reinforcements on the trousers. It is also a good idea to pack strong overtrousers, as they protect against thorns and dense undergrowth. Here, it is important that you choose products which are suitable for the ‘challenges’ you will encounter outdoors.
Deer-X-Dura reinforcement
Deer-X-Dura is Deerhunter’s specially developed reinforcement with stretch. The elastic reinforcement provides extra protection on exposed areas such as your knees and elbows. Moreover, the focus is on freedom of movement, so you can be well equipped for the demanding hunt.
COOLMAX®
COOLMAX® fabric is the performance fabric that includes an effective fiber-based moisture management system. The system can move perspiration away from the body, and through the fabric, where it can evaporate quickly, allowing the wearer to feel cooler and more comfortable.
HITENA™
HITENA™ is a high technology material innovation which is used for protective equipment/clothing; in motorcycle sport for example.

HITENA™ has been developed after many years of research into the use of specialist sports equipment, and in tasks facing great challenges because of weather conditions and quality requirements. HITENA™ is made from a mixture of technical polyamide fibres, which ensure great long-term resistance against wear, tear and dirt.
Thornproof
When nature challenges us in tough terrain, it demands even more of our hunting apparel. Here, Deerhunter has developed its Thornproof products, which are made from extra strong fabrics with the sole purpose of being able to withstand scrub and thorns.
Leather
All hunters should own a pair of sturdy leather trousers for hunting! Leather is a very comfortable material, and you can almost walk through anything – they just last. In particular, dog handlers walking through thick vegetation will greatly appreciate wearing leather trousers – in addition to which they are wonderfully warm on cold days.
Deer-Dura
Demanding hunting requires extra reinforcement. Deerhunter has therefore developed its ‘Deer-Dura’ reinforcement, which makes your hunting apparel even more wear-resistant on exposed areas such as the knees and elbows.
YKK®
At Deerhunter, we place high demands on the zippers we use in our hunting wear.
That is why many of our products have YKK zippers – world-renowned registered quality zippers.
BAMBOO
Bamboo fibres have a natural anti-bacterial function. The fibres reduce smells / odours considerably and simultaneously it maintains its breathability and moisture is led away form the body. Clothing with bamboo fibres has a slightly cooling effect on your body.
Neoprene
Neoprene material is good at keeping warm/cool and shock-protection applications. Neoprene in general has good chemical stability, and maintains flexibility over a wide temperature range. The synthetic rubber is used among other things, in weather-resistant products.
Two-way stretch
If you require extra freedom of movement and a good fit, choose one of Deerhunter’s products with stretch. Using materials with two-way stretch makes the hunting apparel stretchable, which enhances your freedom of movement.
Four-way stretch
When choosing hunting apparel, and you need maximum flexibility, freedom of movement and a good fit, you should choose Deerhunter’s products with four-way stretch. Hunting apparel with four-way stretch is elastic both lengthways and widthways, enabling you to move around freely without feeling constricted by your clothing.
Wool
Wool is warmer than synthetic fabrics – whether it’s wet or dry. Wool wicks moisture much more effectively than cotton, but not quite as well as synthetic fabrics. Wool also takes considerably longer to dry than synthetics.
Other functionalities
Reinforcement
If you’re stalking your way to your dream buck, or walking across hard terrain, your hunting apparel will be subjected to extra wear and tear. Here, extra reinforcement and durable materials in exposed places are required.
100% waterproof
Wet and sodden hunting apparel can quickly ruin a good hunting expedition. Deerhunter therefore always recommends waterproof products for hunting in rainy weather. A special combination of materials and processes enable us to develop products which are 100% waterproof.
Windproof
If you choose one of Deerhunter’s products which have a membrane, it will automatically be windproof. Windproofing is the garment’s ability to keep the wind out. If you sit for a long time in a strong breeze, you will quickly appreciate the fact that the garment is windproof. Windproof hunting apparel helps to keep you warm so that you can focus on the hunt.
Silent
Noisy hunting apparel can quickly ruin a good stalk or hunting expedition. Our specially selected silent fabric has been chosen to minimize noise and the design have been optimized to reduce friction around the arm and leg area. Get closer to the animals with Deerhunter Silent.
Lightweight
Lightweight clothing from Deerhunter ensures a comfortable hunting experience and provides extra freedom of movement without adding extra weight.
Breathable
No matter what weather situation you find yourself in, choosing Deerhunter’s clothing with one of its four membranes, will provide you with a breathable product. This allows you to maintain your comfort while being active and subsequently enjoy your experience more.
Taped seams
When the clothing is stitched, tiny holes are created in the fabric by the seams. To avoid moisture seeping through these holes, it is possible to tape the seams. This protects exposed areas and increases the product's waterproofness.
Insulation
If you want to hunt in very cold temperatures, you will benefit greatly from choosing hunting apparel with insulation. Padding or insulation is designed to keep you warm. It is important that you are able to maintain a stable body temperature throughout the day so that you don’t freeze.
AZO-free
In order for the hunting apparel to have exactly the right colours, chemical dyes are used. During the dyeing process, the desired colour binds to the fibres in the garment. Colour that has not bound to the fibres is called excess colour. You can remove excess colour and other chemical substances by washing your clothes before use.
